Indran B. Indrakrishnan, MD, is a nationally recognized gastroenterologist at Gwinnett Digestive Clinic, PC, in Lawrenceville, Georgia. His passion for cancer awareness earned him unanimous support in a Georgia Senate resolution for his exemplary service to the community, including increasing the public awareness of colorectal cancer screenings. Dr. Indrakrishnan has performed thousands of colonoscopies and endoscopies in his effort to help patients improve their gastrointestinal health.
Dr. Indrakrishnan gained his extensive gastroenterology training at various prestigious medical institutions, such as Kings College affiliated hospitals in England, St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, and the Queens University group of hospitals in Canada. Along the way, he had the good fortune to study under gastroenterology standouts, such as doctors Roger Williams, Jamie Barkin, Bruce Bacon, and Ivan Beck.
During his training, Dr. Indrakrishnan became a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American College of Physicians, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the Royal College of Physicians in London. Dr. Indrakrishnan is also a graduate of the Georgia Physicians Leadership Academy, a program that identifies and trains physician leaders in Georgia.
He put this training to good use and received a gubernatorial appointment by Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal to the Georgia Board for Physician Workforce, and he is a peer reviewer for the Georgia Composite State Board of Medical Examiners.
Dr. Indrakrishnan is well-known for his dedication to teaching others, and he serves as an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.
As part of his passion to prevent colorectal cancer, Dr. Indrakrishnan serves on the board of directors of Fight Colorectal Cancer, a national nonprofit patient advocacy organization that supports colon cancer patients.
Dr. Indrakrishnan lives in Duluth, Georgia, with his wife, Gayathri, a certified public accountant, and his daughter, Harini, an undergraduate at Emory University.
